Queen’s Certificate in Mining Technologies is a 6-course undergraduate program offered completely online, in an asynchronous format. The program is offered in two different streams: (1) Mining and (2) Mineral Processing. Students typically complete the program in two years.

Program Requirements
- Students must complete 6 courses for a total of 18 credit units
- Average time commitment is between 8 and 12 hours per course per week during term
- Individuals working full time typically take one course per term and finish in six terms (two years)
Admission Criteria
- Any student who has successfully completed at least two years of engineering or relevant science studies (e.g. geology, earth sciences, environmental sciences) at the Technician, Technologist, or Bachelors level at a recognized institution is eligible for admission to the Certificate in Mining Technologies. The completed curriculum must include at least one university-level Calculus course, as well as one introductory Physics and one introductory Chemistry course
- A cumulative average (cumulative GPA) in their Bachelors degree of at least 73% (B average under Queen’s grading scheme)
- Significant and relevant professional experience may in exceptional cases provide a basis for flexibility in admissions cut-off
- All international students must meet Queen’s University’s English language requirements
Tuition & Fees
Fees for CMT students are calculated based on the credit unit weighting of each course.
The current cost per credit unit is $238.23 for Domestic students, and $808.27 for International students.
CMT courses range in unit weight, between 3.0 and 4.5 credit units.
For example, current fees for a 3.0 credit course are:
- Domestic Students CAD $714.69
- International Students CAD $2,424.81 or approximately USD $1,900 as of June 15, 2021. (plus minor fees for exams etc.)
